Delivery price calculation

How ToolBox calculates delivery based on the settings and parameters provided

Last updated 5 months ago

Zone selection

ToolBox will select a zone when the delivery address is contained in that zone. If the address is contained in 2 or more zones, it will assign it to the first zone from top to bottom.

Container selection

The list of containers you have assigned to that zone are considered for their constraints: meaning maximum weight, length, width and height.

Each part is checked for the cheapest container it can fit inside, based on the part's weight and dimensions.

The containers are filled and combined in a way that calculates the minimum delivery price for the order.

  • Example A: ToolBox will select 1 quarter pallet and 2 boxes, if this is cheaper than 1 half pallet

  • Example B: ToolBox will select 1 quarter pallet, if this is cheaper than 3 boxes.

Delivery price

Each container required for the order has its price calculated based on .

The price of each container is summarised and compared to the minimum delivery price. If the calculated price is smaller than the minimum, a charge is added to bring the delivery price up to the minimum.

The total price is shown in the pricing summary card at the bottom of the quote page. However, you can see the breakdown of where the price came from by opening up the delivery price details popup. This is accessible via the icon in the delivery options card near the top of the quote.

The details will show:

  • The delivery address, and which zone was selected.

  • If pricing based on distance, the pickup address and the total distance to the delivery address.

  • The list of delivery containers selected by ToolBox, including the weight and size constraints, how many of each container type are required, and the total price by container type.

    • If pricing based on weight, the weight of the parts inside each container type is displayed.

  • The subtotal of the container prices.

  • Any minimum delivery charge, if required to bring the price up to the minimum delivery price.

  • The total delivery price, which is what is displayed on the quote for the customer.
