Fine feed rates and small hole limits

Add or edit optional fine speed settings to the rate table.

Speed diameter and fine cutting rate

The 'fine speed diameter' and 'fine cutting rate' are optional fields, if you have a 'speed diameter' or 'fine cutting rate' of 0, then no fine cutting rates apply. If it's greater than zero, then any hole in a part that is smaller than this will use the fine cutting rate time.

Technical note: In the above, the use of the phrase "any hole in a part that is smaller than this" is comparing the area of the hole in the part to the area of a circle with a diameter of the value entered into the "speed diameter" column.

To add a fine 'speed diameter' or 'fine cutting rate' to an existing thickness, click the edit icon on the last column on right-hand side of the screen:

To add it to a new thickness enter a value in the field, leaving it blank will exclude it from calculations.

When this field is blank or set to zero, ToolBox uses the default cutting feed rate.

Enter a value and click update:

2800mm per minute set as the cut speed for any hole under 4mm.

Pierce time

The 'fine pierce time' limit is an optional field f you have a 'fine pierce time' or 'fine cutting rate' of 0, then no fine cutting rates apply.

To add a 'fine pierce time' or 'fine cutting rate' to an existing thickness, click the edit icon on the last column on right-hand side of the screen:

To add it to a new thickness enter a value in the field, leaving it blank will exclude it from calculations.

When this field is blank or set to zero, ToolBox will use the default pierce time.

Enter a value and click update:

Fine pierce time set to 1 seconds at any hole smaller than 4mm diameter.

Small holes limit

The small holes limit is an optional field, if you have a 'small holes limit' of 0, then no limit applies. If it's greater than zero, then any hole in a part that is smaller than this will result in a warning on the status of the part after you attempt to calculate it:

To add a 'small holes limit' to an existing thickness, click the edit icon on the last column on right-hand side of the screen.

To add it to a new thickness enter a value in the field, leaving it blank will exclude it from calculations.

When this field is blank or set to zero, ToolBox will not display a warning.

Enter a value and click update:

A small hole limit has been set at 1mm

A hole has been detected smaller than 1mm
