Tempus Tools documents open in your browser, and you print them from the browser's print window (Ctrl + P, or the Export button). Tempus Tools sets the page size of each document. Your browser and printer control everything else: which printer is used, the paper size, the scale and the margins.
Recommended print settings
These settings are for full-page documents, such as quotes and work orders. For part labels, see Printing part labels below.
To ensure that all the information is included in the printout, we recommend making the following changes to your browser settings. Please note that Tempus Tools does not have control over specific advanced print settings.
Print scale: Adjust the scale to a range of 73% to 78%. As you modify the scaling, you will see the preview update. Choose the percentage that works best for your browser.
Options: Uncheck the option for "Headers and footers" and make sure to check the option for "Background graphics".
See below:
Advanced browser print settings
Printing part labels
Part labels are available once a quote is marked as Ordered (see Production documents). Each part is on its own page, so you can print them on a label printer or on label sheets.
Label size: each label page is about 106 x 52 mm (landscape). Labels this size or larger print the label at full size. Smaller labels work too: the label is scaled down to fit.
Note: don't use the 73% to 78% scale from the section above for labels. It is meant for full-page documents and will make labels smaller.
Print settings for labels
Open the Part Labels document and press Ctrl + P (or use Export).
Destination: choose your label printer. "Save as PDF" always keeps the label's own size.
More settings > Paper size: choose the size of the labels loaded in your printer. This list comes from your printer, so it only shows sizes your printer knows.
Margins: None.
Scale: start with Default and check the preview. If the label is cut off or looks too small, choose Custom and change the percentage until the preview fits the label.
Print one label to test before printing the full set.
Make your label size the default
The print window starts with your printer's default paper size each time. To avoid choosing your label size on every print, set it as the default in your printer settings:
Windows: go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, choose your printer, then Printing preferences. Choose the paper size and set the orientation to Landscape, then click Apply.
Mac: in the browser's print window, choose "Print using system dialogue". Set the paper size there, then save the settings as a preset.
Adding a custom label size
If your label size isn't in the Paper size list, add it to your printer first:
Label printers (for example Brother, Dymo or Zebra): add the size in the printer's own settings, usually under Printing preferences. For continuous rolls, you set the roll width and the label length.
Other printers on Windows: open Printers & scanners, choose Print server properties, tick "Create a new form", enter the size and save it.
Mac: in the system print dialogue, choose Paper Size > Manage Custom Sizes.
The new size then appears in the browser's Paper size list.
Saving labels as a PDF at a different size
To make a PDF at your own label size (for example, to print from another computer), choose Microsoft Print to PDF as the destination instead of Save as PDF. You can then choose the paper size and scale under More settings.
Troubleshooting label printing
Labels print smaller than expected, or the size keeps changing back
Your printer's default paper size is probably smaller than the label. Set the correct size as the default (see above), and check that Scale is set to Default rather than a custom percentage.
The size I need isn't in the Paper size list
Add a custom size to your printer (see above). The browser can only offer sizes your printer has.
Part of the label is cut off
The paper size is smaller than the label, or the scale is too high. Set Margins to None and lower the scale until the preview fits.
The printer shows a paper size or media error
The paper size chosen doesn't match the labels loaded in the printer. Choose the size of the loaded roll or sheet.
The label prints sideways
The browser may not offer a Layout option for labels. Set the orientation to Landscape in your printer's Printing preferences instead.

Print in high contrast black & white
Recommended steps:
1. Install the High Contrast extension or equivalent.
2. Pin the extension to the browser bar.
Pin your preferred extension
3. Right-click on the extension and click ‘manage extension’.
4. Set the Site Access setting to “On click”. Otherwise it defaults to changing the contrast settings of every page on every website.
Note: it will do that at first anyway. After changing this setting, a refresh of those tabs will revert them back to normal.
Make sure to set it to "on click"
5. Open the desired Tempus Tools report. It should load as normal.
6. Click the extension, which will activate it for that page after a page refresh.
Make sure to reload the page
7. Set the view mode to the desired setting. For black and white printing, Greyscale mode is perfect.
Example of how it looks with greyscale mode
8. Print through the browser (CTRL + P). The Export button will also work for the Part Labels document and the Work Order since they both use the browser print settings anyway. The Export button will not produce black and white images for other documents, so use CTRL + P for those.
